Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
So recently, I became aware of my roommates obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to shower. I’m not talking about long drawn out showers where you wonder exactly what might be going on in here but rather the urge to shower more than two times a day.
There are times when one might call for two or three showers in one day. Ex. Moving the lawn or working out in the middle of the day and then coming home to play a velocious game of football. You know, crap like that. But this guy doesn’t exactly participate in those sorts of activities. (We all know he doesn’t mow the lawn)
As I write this entry, I have stopped a few times to wonder why someone feels the urge to shower so many times during the day. I am totally open to suggestions and thoughts on this subject. But because of the recent hikes in gas prices (not that water has anything to do with this) it’s hard to chew on a large water bill as well. Granted our sprinkler system has been shut off for over a month now and our yard seem to be doing fine. But seriously, three or more showers in a day?
And how does one even being to address such an issue? Is it an issue? (I think it is and so do the other roommates of the abode.) I recently read an article on the OCD website that a common obsession is the fear of germs, dirt, etc that would induce washing. But given the condition of the bathroom that I share with said roommate, I don’t see how this could be possible.
Now, please know that our bathroom isn’t filthy because we don’t clean it, it’s more an issue of said roommate has yet to clean it since we moved in. I thought I would see how long it took until he decided to do something about it. (I waited long enough until I couldn’t take it… he won. Fooled by my own baton)
That’s a post for another time though.

OCD, or just kinda-neurotic people/symptoms fascinate me - nature or nurture? etc. Thanks for the website link, I’ll look forward to reading up a bit more.
What fascinates me in a bad way is high water bills that I have nothing to do with. INTERVENTION!
