Wed, 20 Jul 2011 19:25:02 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.1.1 Football is coming! http://twistedsideways.net/2010/08/29/football-is-coming/ http://twistedsideways.net/2010/08/29/football-is-coming/#comments Sun, 29 Aug 2010 23:56:42 +0000 Rusty http://twistedsideways.net/?p=200 Just one more week until College football begins.  Well technically, it all kicks off this Thursday but the majority of the games begin this weekend and I can’t wait.   UT tickets showed up at the door a few weeks ago and they have been burning a hole in the wall where I hung them on a bulletin board where I usually post tickets, wedding invitations and other things that I need to get to quickly or make sure that I don’t misplace or get lost in the clutter of things!  Anyway, I’m anxious for kick off and to get back into the stadium!

A lot of this excitement has also been spurred on by watching the first three seasons of Friday Night Lights on Netflix.  I’ve been streaming the past three seasons and shamefully admit that I blazed through the first three season in about 2 weeks.  I would have started on season 4 already but Netflix doesn’t have season 4 up for streaming up yet so I’m waiting on the DVD’s to show up.  If you haven’t ever seen it, you should check it out.  My friend Amanda and Doug are also hooked on the show.  Amanda even has an upcoming role (small but still) in Season 5 that just wrapped up filming.

For those of you wanting to attend a UT game this fall, I have two extra tickets for most of the season this year.  One of our buddies is leaving for school for the next three years and has decided to keep the tickets in his name, but passed the possession of them over to me!  So…. Hook ‘Em Horns.

So our UT Football tickets arrived today! To Dream the Impossible, really has come true. Most of the UT season ticket holders received a letter in the mail that their season tickets were renewed but that no seat request changes were honerd. Good thing we have a friend in a high place at the Longhorn Foundation because we got our seats moved. And by the looks of this picture and the people that are on top, this puppy is HUGE! (side note: this is not our view of the jumbotron but simply a picture to show you what we will be looking at, albeit from a different angle – word on the street is we went from past the endzone to the 15 or 20 yard line.)

To many views of the new Jumbotron and to another successful season.

And now that UT won the National Title this past year, it’s even hard to make any kind of formal change and expect it to be honored.

I am, however, excited to report, a miracle to you today. The season ticket block that I sit in with 9 of my other close friends from college, were in fact able to get our tickets moved from one side of the stands to the others. For years we have been unable to see the jumbotron and we have stuck out past the end zone. Today my friends, I am happy to report that we moved to other side of our section (we’re still on the alumni side) but went for section 101 to 108, putting us on the 15 yard line rather than past the end zone. And all of our seats are together! To dream the impossible dream finally came true.

Be it noted that connections within the Longhorn Foundation, really do pay off!

Vince Young ran for 108 yards and a touchdown and threw for two other scores, and No. 2 Texas converted three turnovers by Missouri quarterback Brad Smith into touchdowns in beating the Tigers 51-20 Saturday October 1, 2005.

And this is just one more step closer to catching a National Title.
