In just a few short hours, I am headed West to California, Oregeon, Washington and Vancouver. I’ll be travleing for about two weeks with some friends on mine that left Austin by car a few weeks ago. I’m pretty excited about getting out of some of this Texas heat to some cooler tempertaures. I’m a little nervous about leaving home for so long with a roommate here too. Not that I don’t trust the guy, but the AC and other things will be running while I am out and I still have a few issues with things working correctly while I’m gone.

While away, I plan to post pics along the way here on the blog and on my Facebook account. So if your one of the few people that still come around these parts, you’ll be able to check out the pics here and on facebook. I’m excited about seeing some mountains and just get away from the heat.

Now, I just have to get packed and wake up for a 5am flight!

It’s been awhile since the ol’ photoblog got some attention but I finally got around to getting some new pics up. I have it set to post a new pic a day rather than overloading the site with a bunch of new pics. So you’ll have to come back to check out the other pics each day.

I was invited to participate in an invitational photography exibit here in Austin in a few weeks. And in light of my new camera and some of the photos that I am entering, combined with the fact that I have decided to get back into all of this photography, I decided to post a photoblog. I can’t seem to get my RSS feed to work with this blog though to post the most recent addition to the photoblog. Hopefully I will have that working soon.

Recently I returned from California, sent there for a conference. We conferenced. We played. And I thought that it was my way of getting that feeling of wanting to travel out of my system. I mean who knew that it took 4 hours of a plane ride to get there? We hit up the beach, even the PCH – Pacific Coast Highway. Threw down in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach and took in the sites. Albeit, most of our time was spent in meetings and at general sessions where keynote speakers told it like it was.

Tonight, I hung out with a friend that has an itch to travel. I thought I was over it having not been back an entire week yet from California. That was until we started talking about beaches and scuba diving, skiing and mountains, foreign food and languages and all the places that we wish we could rather be. It’s also hard to believe that just a year ago, I was returning from adventures in Europe with my brother and two other friends of ours. The picture here is just one of many that I took while walking down the trail to Gimmelwald, Switzerland. This is one of those captured moments that I wish I could back to. If and when I have the chance to go back, I plan to visit there again. You can see more of my pictures from that trip here.

It’s amazing though to think about the splendor of what God has created. The flowers and mountains and just the vast landscape of the world around us is amazing. The fact that we can get in a plane and be halfway around the world in a matter of hours is mind boggling. And the ability to meet new people, see new places and things is something that we take for granted. But all the same, it’s something that I miss deeply tonight. Traveling is the best way to experience life, a great way to see Him.
