It’s recently struck me how many great people that I have recently met and have found myself surrounded by. About a year ago I started attending Austin Bible and I’ve recently started attending a new small group. The people in this group have been amazing. I feel a huge blessing to be apart of a group of people that truly love. And that love deeply despite who or what you are. It’s really been opening up my eyes to see things from a new perspective when I feel loved by people that really don’t know much about me.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to work with some people that are apart of the Timothy Team, a year long discipleship program at T Bar M Camps. We worked with a high school youth group from Austin out at Camp Travis and I had a great time getting to know some new people. I think in the middle of working with people and finding joy in just being together really gives you a picture of what it means to be in community with others. Sure we got paid to be there over the weekend, but it’s not easy work.

I think one of the biggest things I took away from this past weekend, was the idea of looking at life, work, and relationships from a younger perspective. It’s been easy for me to get stuck in this idea of what life is and what life looks like as I get older. But being in this new small group and working with the Tim Team this past weekend is just a reminder of God’s love and the powerful of meaningful, deep relationships truly does for and to someone.

I’ve been out of the realm of my small group the past two weeks because of work. Last night I was able to attend again and I’m more than thankful that I did. I haven’t felt this encouraged by a group of men in a long time. Aside from all the joking around and picking fun of each other, it was refreshing to get into the word with them and share some prayer requests with some guys that I know will be praying for me and that care.

I just thought I would blog about this blessing.

Tomorrow morning I am scheduled to break the news to our Youth Pastor that I have decided to volunteer with the High School youth program for the next year or so. Ok, so, really I am about 99.9% sure that I am going to volunteer. I think the major thing that is holding me back is this feeling of not being prepared. So often, I find myself not walking with Jesus like I should. I find myself doubting, trying to rely on myself rather than Him and fail every time too. And somehow, the youth pastor at my church feels like I would be an awesome addition to the youth program. So much so, that they have already assigned me a small group of guys to lead this coming year. Pray that I have the wisdom to share this with him. I do know though that Jesus uses us when we least expect it. So bring it on Jesus, use me cause I could go for another surprise of you.
